Guided Tour IJburg in Amsterdam
During the Guided Tour IJburg in Amsterdam Mokum Events will show you the latest addition to the man made city islands of Amsterdam.
Mokum Events is proud of the city of Amsterdam. Whether it is about the oldest slums or the latest urban development, we love to show it to you! Look how we turned water in to a unique residential area!
If you have driven from the A10 (Ring way East) to the north, you have undoubtedly noticed the strange white bridge, which appears on the left side just before you drive into the Zeeburgertunnel. This is the 'Ennäeus Heermabrug', designed by architect Nicolas Grimshaw. The local residents have renamed the bridge 'the Dolly Parton bridge'. When you see this bridge you will understand.
This bridge, together with the bicycle- and footbridge Nesciobrug developed by architect Jim Eyre, is the gate to the newest district of Amsterdam, IJburg. This district, which is not yet finished, is built on 5 emerging islands in the IJ-lake and will contain about 18.000 homes for 45.000 people when completed.
When you walk through the district, you will notice that the islands all have special districts , each with a totally different architecture and design; very unlike ordinary homes! Join us and enjoy a different look on Dutch achitecture.
