The 9 straatjes (Reestraat, Hartenstraat, Gasthuis, Molensteeg, Oude Spiegelstraat, Wolvenstraat, Berenstraat, Runstraat, Huidenstraat en de Wijde Heisteeg) between the Raadhuisstraat and the Leisestraat is a district where culture and craft have since the past set the tone. They form the cross connection between the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht.
These 9 small streets are well known for their great diversity in small shops, most of which are situated in lovely old buildings. You won't find large chain shops here; only speciality shops where one often finds the owner himself being in command. You will find all sorts here; from small businesses selling second hand goods and clothing to shops selling Eastern jewellery or old Lps. There are also speciality shops selling cheese, chocolate, dressmaking, antiques and design and naturally also a variety of tearooms, restaurants and pubs.
