Guided Tour IJburg Amsterdam
Mokum Events is proud of her city. Whether it is about the oldest slums or, like here, the latest in the field of city development, we love to show it to you! During this tour you will see the latest addition to our city islands! Look how we turned water in to a unique residential area!
If you have driven from the A10 (Ring way East) to the north once, you have undoubtedly noticed the strange white bridge, which appears on the left side just before you drive into the Zeeburgertunnel. This is the 'Ennäeus Heermabrug', designed by architect Nicolas Grimshaw. Amsterdam residents have renamed the bridge in the meantime into the Dolly Parton bridge. When you see this bridge you will understand this? This bridge, together with the bicycle- and footbridge Nesciobrug developed by architect Jim Eyre is the gate to the newest district of Amsterdam, IJburg. This district, which is not finished yet, is built on 5 emerging islands in the IJ and must contain about 18.000 homes for 45.000 people when completed.
When you walk through the district, you will notice that the islands are made up of special districts , each with a totally different architecture and design; very unlike ordinary homes! Join us and enjoy a different look on house building.
